About geek components

geek components was born out of a passion for cycling and a fascination for cutting-edge manufacturing technologies. The man behind the project is Daniel, an engineer from the region of Stuttgart, Germany, who specializes in metallic 3D printing.

The journey begins in 2020 with the goal of unlocking the potential of 3D printing for bicycle components. A personal passion gives rise to a small company that develops high-quality and innovative bicycle parts.

An alternative to carbon

The idea

Experience has shown time and again that components made of materials such as carbon that are extremely lightweight reach their limits in terms of stability and durability depending on the load. With the vision of developing bicycle parts that are light, robust, functional and attractive, the first experiments with 3D-printed aluminum and titanium began. The first major milestone is a bottle cage that is not only lighter than many carbon models, but also offers superior stability.

Laser Powder Bed Fusion technology makes it possible to create precise and complex geometries that would not be possible using traditional methods. Laser beam melting is one of the most advanced methods in metal 3D printing. A layer of fine metal powder is spread on a build platform and a laser melts the desired cross-section of the component into this layer. This process is repeated thousands of times and enables the construction of highly complex and functional structures.
